We are the Mudflappers, an irreverent troupe of swing dance performers and teachers. We specialise in performing at festivals, wowing crowds with flashy moves and then getting large numbers of people dancing. We are a not-for-profit organisation with the mission statement of making the world a little bit better through swing dancing.

At recent festivals we’ve:

  • Taught 200 revellers to dance Charleston in unison on a Sunday afternoon, stormed the floating stage in the wood, swum out to sea and dancing on tidal flats, and warmed up for Mark Ronson in the VIP tent – at Festival No. 6
  • Run a touring swing flashmob squad, performed late night with electro swing DJs and danced on the roofs of caravans – at Shambala
  • Lead nine taster classes in one weekend in Lindy Hop, Charleston and St Louis Shag, and danced in the sea – at Port Eliot Festival
  • Performed with Rob Heron and the Teapad Orchestra – at Towersea Festival
  • Showed hardened rock fans alternative ways to to enjoy themselves – at Liverpool Sound City

What we do

We are a twenty-strong troupe of experienced swing teachers and performers. Depending on your needs we can send a team who can put on:

  • A range of short stage shows, suitable as fillers between main acts or as feature on their own
  • Pop-up dancing – turning up in surprising places and getting the crowd dancing
  • Taster lessons in solo or partnered swing dances such as the Charleston, the Lindy Hop and the Shag
  • Lindy Hip Hop, our own blend of swing and hip hop – the ultimate hungover crowd pleaser
  • Cabaret acts and compering, including acrobatics, clowning and live jazz singing
  • Swing DJing
